Membership and Membership fees
Six types of membership to suit all experience
Whether you are a student, recent graduate or licensed paralegal, we have six categories of membership to suit everyone's legal experience. Annual subscription rates range from £30.00 (plus a registration fee of £10.00 for students on their first registration) to £50.00. Fees can be paid by Paypal online or payable by cheque.
Affiliate Membership
Is granted to all those who have successfully undertaken any legal course at a lower level than the Higher Certificate (including Legal Secretarial Qualifications), or have appropriate experience. E.g. Paralegal Practical Skills Course, ILEX Level 2 or Level 3,Institute of Legal Secretaries Legal Secretarial Diploma. Affiliate Members are encouraged to proceed to pass the Diploma in Paralegal Studies and thus upgrade to Associate Membership.
Law Graduates yet to complete the LPC or the Association's Post Graduate Diploma in Paralegal Practice (PPC).

Student Membership
Any person wishing to qualify as a Paralegal is required to be a Student Member or an Affiliate Member of the Association. Students taking the Level 4 Diploma in Paralegal Studies (Associate Level Qualification) the Post Graduate Diploma in Paralegal Practice or the Fellowship Course are required to have current Student or Affiliate Membership. Existing members taking further qualifications are exempt. First year membership is included in course fees.

Associate Membership
For those who have obtained the Diploma in Paralegal Studies, a legal qualification at Level 4/5 or relevant legal experience including procedural law, acceptable to the Association. Associate Members are eligible to use the designated letters 'A.PLL' after their name.

Graduate Membership
For Law Graduates who have a Law Degree or the CPE/Post Grad. Dip. Law and have passed either the LPC or the Association's Post Graduate Diploma in Paralegal Practice (PPC). Graduate Members are entitled to use the designatory letters 'Grad.PLL'.

Fellowship Membership
Is open to those who have gained their Fellowship Award in their legal specialism. For the full list of Fellowship courses and entry criteria click here. Fellows are eligible to use the designatory letters 'F.PLL

Licensed Paralegals
Anyone with an acceptable qualification in law, e.g. the Association's Diploma in Paralegal Studies, ILEX, Law Degree or HND (plus a procedural law qualification) or any other qualification deemed suitable, and who can satisfy the other criteria laid down, is eligible to apply to become a Licensed Paralegal. Fellowship and Graduate: (F.PLL or Grad.PLL): Annual Subscription £40.00
Licensed Paralegal: (This fee includes either Associate, Graduate or Fellowship Membership fees and is not in addition to them). Annual Subscription £50.00
